A new phase in life

On September 10, 2015 our little big boy had his very first day of school. He was very excited to get on the school bus. But as he zoomed away from me, this momma couldn't help but tear up. The fact that he was going down the road WITHOUT me!!!! was hard. But anyways, off I went to make sure he got to his classroom all right. He was fine and was ok with me leaving which I knew he would be. I was ok leaving him there because he was ok being there. (If that makes any sense at all?!) It is such a strange feeling not being in touch with him for 8 hours of the day! Your so used to knowing what they're doing and where they are every minute of every day and then you go to not being able to check on them at all....just a strange feeling. I loved every day I had him at home, but he is definitely ready for this stage in life and I'm very excited for him. I pray every night that he gets there and comes home safely.
His sister had to have a picture with him. Poor girl, I think she was feeling a bit left out. Tanner got lots of new stuff, a lunch packed and on and on!

We made cookies for when Tanner got home off the bus. She wasn't sure what to do all day without Tanner...

And she painted!

5 years & 5 months

Last week one day our oldest, our son Tanner turned five whole years old! And on the same day our youngest daughter turned five months old!! So crazy how the time flies. Didn't I just give birth our first child???!!! Anyways, Grandpa took the kids and I on a wagon ride that day, the kids were excited, finally a wagon ride. They were so excited to help Grandpa drive the horses. Nice little treat.

Whitley was on the wagon too, sleeping in her seat.
Tanner excited about his new cowboy boots...he has been wearing them everywhere since, with shorts and all ;)
Five months old!!!!!! Such a happy little girl. She's over 20 pounds, healthy and happy! Smiley too. She pretty sleeps all night every night. 9 pm - 6:30/7 am. The odd night she might wake up to eat once and goes right back to sleep. She spoils us rotten.
She loves her cowie cow. (her brother named the cow lol)

He requested a combine cake. With a bucket tractor and grain cart......this is what Mommy came up with. And just as we're ready to light the candles and sing Happy Birthday, someone pointed out that I had six candles on the cake! He was turning five!! NOT six. Sheesh. I have as lot of mommy brain lately it's scary.
He was very excited about his gifts. More to add to his farming collection and some nice games.

Note: There are now five candles on the cake! LOL.
Spent most of the birthday party on the deck, the mosquitoes got bad around 9-10 pm.

Happy Tuesday!

Q-tip Painting

The other day Tanner & I did some Q-tip painting. He really enjoyed it. I did one with him so he could kind of copy me. I have a couple of other fall projects for him yet.

Nursery School & Back at Combining!!

On Thursday Tanner had his first day of Nursery School! He did great and had a lot of fun. He said he wants to be a Skidsteer Driver when he grows up.
With threat of frost the other night we went out to pick everything that would be vulnerable....let's just say I totally underestimated how many tomatoes were out there!!!! This is maybe a third... The kidlets were happy to help me!
Ali's new obsession is wearing a toque 24/7. Except she gets them mixed up with mitts and calls it her mitt all the time. lol. At least it easier than trying to fight with her to get her to keep it on.

We FINALLY got back to combining yesterday. We have not combined since August 17 and even then it was only two short days worth. One field of oats that we have cut is dry and ready to go so that's what we were working on last night. One field of canola is ready to combine as well. Our winter wheat is still sitting out in the field in the swath...it's pretty much a write off and very poor in grade so we won't worry about it too much till the better crop is off. Of course my hubby (glad it was him and not me) managed to plug the combine. Very badly. So while they were working on unplugging it, the kids had a blast playing in the swaths of straw. Lots of fond childhood memories came back to me of the fun we had playing on the farm as kids. The bale yard was highlight year round.

Ah, the life of a farm kid!

Have a great day and if your harvesting, stay safe and I hope you get lots done!

Tanner turns 4!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, Tanner is opening his gifts from us in the van...LOL. We were seeding all day yesterday and I wanted Tanner to open his gifts the night before his birthday because the day of his birthday we would have dayhome kids. This way he would have a chance to play with his new toys before all the other kids came the next day, the day of his birthday. So since Daddy was in the field, I took the kids in their pajamas and Tanners gifts and we headed out there. Daddy got to see Tanner open his gifts and say Good night!

Pretty excited about the squeeze chute, no more pretending!
Tanner's John Deere 4440 tractor (as per request) cupcake cake before the icing.
 And after the icing!
A very special picture, Great Grandma Friesen with three of her Great grandchildren. (Dad's grandchildren)
So pleased with his cake and kind of embarrassed that everyone sang so loudly for him. I think he was very overwhelmed with the attention, gifts and love he got today. He felt very special, and rightly so!
 Blowing out his candles!
Opening gifts. (I apologize for the sideways pictures, not sure what I did, it's late and I should be sleeping...)

A great day was had!! So glad it was so special for him. We love him so much.

Good night!
