Outside shenanigans, Family and New Years Cookies

This past Friday was my due date and we were very busy at home. The kids and I joined Daddy for chores, brought the cows home from across the road and then needled them after lunch. Other than going to my in-laws for lunch, we did not come inside till 5 pm that night. The cows needed their Selenium, Vitamin A & D and Scour guard booster shots before they begin calving in 5 ish weeks time. As we were finishing up chores that night Miss Ali fell asleep in the tractor. I thought for sure that all walking, getting in and out of the tractor to open gates and take net wrap off of bales (love love love that versus removing twine!!! Appreciate and celebrate the small things in life ;) ) would for sure bring our baby out. But nope!
New Years Day we took one last sleigh ride with our Alberta family as they left the following day. Sad to see them go, had lots of fun while they were here. Ali had so much fun playing with girl cousins! Tanner did too.

 Their dog, Harley.

 Warming up at Grandma's afterwards.
 The Nelson Grand-daughters.

Dad Nelson and Roy needling the cows. (Sorry my pictures are not in order at all....)
Ali, Tanner and Landen watching the cows.

I tried my hand at New Years Cookies or Portzelky yesterday. This is a deep-fried fritter that growing up we had every New Years Day. Usually went to my Grandma's for faspa to enjoy them. I made half with raisins and half with apples. I think they turned out pretty good.
