Plantin' Spuds

So I made a deal with my Dad. I told him that if we could plant a butt load of potatoes at his place this year that I would help look after them and dig them up in the fall. So here we are plantin' like troopers. This was right up Tanners alley bc anything to do with digging in the dirt, he's there!
He was kind of savage with that hoe so I had to be careful I didn't get my toe chopped off. Silly me I wore flipflops but when I garden, I love to be in bare feet.

 Our supervisor.

Tanner never had a nap today and went hard all day and evening. This is what he looked like when he got home, shovel still in hand! His face, feet and hands were so filthy. We washed him off with a washcloth and put him to bed. He just wanted to sleep. But then all of a sudden he heard someone drive in the lane..."Who is that Mommy?" (At point I'm thinking, Do I lie to my little man so he will just go to sleep (it's 10pm by this time) or do I tell him it's Grandpa and Grandma home from Alberta?) Well I told him who it was. He was up like a shot! I think he missed them quite a bit! Needless to say it was more like 10:40 pm. bythe time his head hit the pillow.

Anyways, have a wonderful day!

My Happy Mother's Day

My Mother's Day was a wonderful one. It started off with my little boy bringing me two Mother's Day cards. One from himself and Ali and one from my Hubby. And he wished me a Happy Mother's Day! It made me tear up. I am the luckiest Mommy in the whole world. We then had coffee on the deck. (One of my favoritist things to do) After my little girl went down for her first nap and Tanner went with Dad to finish chores I slipped away to do some more (yes more lol) varnishing on some more doors. We are almost done. We had a very mediocre lunch of KD. After lunch we got ready to go to see my Mom. We had a great wiener roast and visit around the fire. A perfect day.

Supper included watermelon, which the Tanman LOVES. Unfortunately we had to settle for one that came from Walmart :( As my brother said, "The real ones are not here yet." It was still good, just not as good.
Miss Ali chilled in the stroller and enjoyed some quality Grandma time.

 Cheese!

I was going through my pictures on my computer looking for one of me and Mom that I could post on fb and I could not find one. So I made a point of getting one tonight.
Then I thought that my bro should join us but our photographer (not naming any names! ;)) kind of cut him off! Oops!

My in-law's are in Alberta this weekend so a phone call to the Mother-in-law will have to suffice till they get home tomorrow. It was a busy and fun weekend. I had so many plans of trying to get a little more organized for my week - have my laundry caught up (Ya right!!!!!), baking done, house tidied, varnishing done, etc. I feel like I did not accomplish much. But I did spend time with my family and that's more important.

Happy Mother's Day to everyone :)

Bathroom Vanity

 Bathroom vanity. I love it.

Here is one drawer that is a pull out.
And here is a smaller one...I thought it was only going to have 2 shelves. One on the bottom and one in the middle. But he put four little ones in. What am I going to use it for? Any ideas? (In this pic Hubby took the top shelf out, I think I will just evenly space these three out) It's supposed to be a spice drawer I think but I am not putting spices down on the floor. Suggestions??

Cupboards are almost done!

I am extremely happy with how they are turning out!
Side of the island where stools will be.
 Other side of the island.
 Sink and dishwasher cupboard.
My BEAUTIFUL sink. I don't care what anyone says, it's worth the extra moo-la!
Still has a couple doors to put on and handles yet. Oh and the bathroom vanity is not done yet either.

 Arbright (spelling?!) counter tops.

Utility room. The furnace, ductwork, hrv unit and the hotwater tank are all in. That all happened this week.
Still varnishing. They look beautiful when it's all done so totally worth it.

Spring equals new babies and processing cows

The newest addition on the JI Bar Ranch! Our first foal, little stud colt. They are always so gangly looking.
Tanner named him Red. So original, I'm sure it's because of his color lol.
What will be the black pasture group.
I love this cow, she is so purdy. One of our own we raised.
Looking for her baby, we were sorting them off in pairs before we put them through the chute to give them there needles.
What is whitey doing in the black pen?...lol.
Troop just soaking in the sun.
My FIL not being goofy at all!
 Uncle Bob and my Hubby.
One of Steve's bad sides...ha ha.

Safety meeting?

It's hard to believe that we already thinking about and planning our next calving season. This has felt like such a long calving season and winter but here we go again! The heifer bull went out a week ago and the cows will see the bulls next week! Pneumonia has been a big battle here this year so it's nice to get them out of the yard and onto some dry ground to soak up that sun. Anyways, I'm going to post my new cupboards next...should be up in a half hour or so. Sorry Krissy, I know I have been kind of slack :)

Enjoy this beautiful day!
