Five Things Friday

1. I'm soooo excited for Christmas this year but every time I think about it I almost have a heart attack because I realize all over again that my due date is a week after Christmas. So I really have no clue how this Christmas will turn out...What was I thinking??!! Oh right, I wasn't ;)

2. This is a really busy weekend...Not sure what I was thinking here either. Tanner's Nursery School has a table at the Flea Market in town tomorrow and I signed up to make 4 dozen white buns and 2 dozen butter tarts and make a bag of play-dough to sell AND a raffle item. So the food I am in the process of making right now because it needs to be dropped off tonight. You can't make it ahead of time because you want it to be fresh fresh. So why on earth did I choose buns & tarts. Oh well, once you get into the swing of things it's not so bad. Not only is the Flea Market on but I also have a family bridal shower tomorrow and offered to bring a dainty...I'm telling you I need to close my mouth once in awhile LOL. Not to mention tonight is Halloween and we are taking the kids trick or treating! And then in amongst all that fun, we are preg checking close 200 bred cows tomorrow and have extra guys to feed and my mother-in-law is going to be working. So that leaves supper up to me. hahahaha. I will be purely vegetating on Sunday! Holding the couch down. Period.

3. It was -10 last night!!!!!! Like what the heck, I do not like it.

4. I'm so in love with my dishwasher and crockpot. Period.

5. Sleep is my favorite activity right now. It is so precious there aren't even words to describe it. Like the other night. We made Trooper (one of our Jack Russells) sleep outside because he had been chewing on some guts all day. We had butchered a steer that day. And he smelled horrible. So. What does he do ALL NIGHT LONG??????????????????? Bark & bark & bark & bark & bark & bark& bark & bark.........Like I don't think he took a breath all night long because all he did was bark. I poked my head out the door about three times to tell him to shut up. And he did till my head hit the pillow again....Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Finally at 5 am I could not take it anymore. I stormed out of our room, opened the back door and lost my shit. I literally lost it. And after I screamed all sorts of obscenities at him and he had quit barking, I went and sat on the couch and bawled my eyes out. No word of a lie. I had got zero sleep and I just couldn't take it anymore. I'm sure if you had been a fly on the wall in my house you would have wanted to bring me to an insane asylum lol. I'm not insane, nor have I lost my mind. I am just pregnant women, 8 months to be exact, who is desperate for sleep. If I had had a shotgun within my reach he would be a dead dog. And I wouldn't have felt bad for a least a week. lol. I can handle my kids keeping me up at night. But a dog? No flipping way.

I Heart Scrap-booking!

When Fall arrives so does my mood to scrap-book!! I am currently working on my 2013 scrap-book. Last year the time of the day I could scrap-book was in the evening after my kids had gone to bed...now I don't really get an evening to myself because I pretty much go to bed when Ali goes to bed. So I have actually been doing it while the girls nap in the afternoon! My goal is to finish my 2013 album and also both my kids baby albums (those two are not digital, I have the albums, you just have to put the pictures in. They are pre-decorated and everything!) before the baby comes in the New Year! So all I have to do is get the pictures printed!

I really hope I can get them all done.
Have a great SNOW-LESS evening ;)

Canvas footprint butterfly

Yes I found this idea on Pinterest...It's so cute! I had to do it. The kids thought it was hilarious that I painted the bottoms of their feet! Can't wait to get them hung up.

This past weekend in pictures

Preparing the cabin for our winter shenanigans, sleigh riding and hunting season 'fish' fry's! We cleaned it and chopped wood for the stove. Spent pretty much the entire weekend outside. It was beautiful, especially Sunday the weather was gorgeous! Spent some time getting the yard and corrals ready for the rest of the cows to come home and to sort and sell calves this coming weekend as well.

Grandma's Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

I was really in the blogging mood today and had plans of posting pictures from our weekend once my kids went down for naps. But then I realized that I left my camera in the truck and my Hubby took the truck to work this morning...So I guess I'll post them later. For now I'll share a delicious cookie recipe that I made this morning. I've made them twice now and they are very yummy. And no they are not MY Grandma's recipe. They are perfect if your in the baking mood but have no eggs on hand because they require no eggs!

1 cup margarine
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1.5 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 cup boiling water
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350.
Beat margarine, sugars and vanilla til fluffy.
Mix flour and salt and add to margarine mixture.
Dissolve baking soda into the boiling water and add to flour mixture.
Stir in rolled oats and chips.
Drop onto cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

Enjoy!

The Last Time

This is so true. We are always trying to make sure we document or make a big deal of all the 'Firsts' so thinking about things from the opposite point of view puts things into perspective. Reading this makes me take a step back and treasure some of the things I may have found 'annoying' that my kids do. Enjoy each and every day with them. You never know when it will be The Last Time.

This N' That

Life has been so very busy. We can see the end of the oats now, and hopefully the canola is done today. Then it's the sunnies and they aren't far away either. I can't wait to put this harvest behind us. We started harvesting on August 16. It is now October 15........So almost 2 months to the date we have been start and stop combining on a crop that with nice weather should normally take us roughly two weeks! Anyways, I just love above picture of our little girl trying to blow on a dandelion.

I try to include both kids in baking once in awhile but it tests my patience and I have like -50 patience lately. It is easier when I don't have extra kids and I only have one extra now so things are much calmer around here lately. This pregnant momma needed to slow down and take a break.

Here we are working on oats, yep story of our life this year!!! And thank goodness we invested in a second combine this year because the other one has been giving us grief :(

And since we have a hundred other things on the go, why not start bringing the cows home???!! Lol. For some reason our simmental group came home two weeks earlier than the charolais group. They are up North at a PFRA pasture. The rest of our cows are around home.

Here I am 28 weeks pregnant. Very hard to believe that in about three months we'll have a new family member!!

The hill of dirt if finally gone in front of my house, I just need to harrow it and plant grass/rye seed so I don't have dirt in front of my house next spring!

The kids got a new pet, someone passed down this goldfish to them. We need to get him a bigger tank but for now this will have to do. They still have yet to pick a name.

On Monday our silage crew showed up and chopped all 70 acres in one day. This is amazing to me because it usually takes us a week! (last year it took us a month---LOTS of breakdowns!!) This big self-propelled machine is just amazing, it chops super fast!! They did have to leave part of one field  because it was just too wet. They did get all three trucks stuck at least once and the machine once. But it's all done and it's nice to be able to stroke it off the to-do list.

 The silage pile.

We square baled the barley straw. We need to have squares for the barn for the winter.

The other day Tanner went square baling with Grandma. Not very many kids can say they went baling with their Grandma! I had lots of leftovers from hosting Thanksgiving at our home Saturday night so that night I made a huge shepherd's pie for supper.

I FINALLY got some pictures of the fall colors, it's my favorite time of year and I'm soooooo guilty of using my phone to take pictures. I hate doing this because the pictures are never as nice as from an actual camera.

I was also quite disappointed in myself because I totally forgot to take any Thanksgiving pictures at all!

Anyways, Have a great day.
